Trump’s Hand Bruise Sparks Health Speculation, White House Attributes It to ‘Shaking Hands’ | US News

A significant bruise that appeared on Donald Trump’s hand is attributed to his extensive handshaking, according to the White House.

Mr Trump‘s right hand appeared injured during the 78-year-old’s meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday, stirring speculation on social media regarding his health.

Reports from Sky News’ US affiliate NBC noted that redness or bruising on the US leader’s right hand was also observed in August and November of the previous year.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the bruising is due to his frequent handshaking.

“President Trump is a man of the people, and he engages with more Americans and shakes their hands daily than any other president in history,” she expressed.

“His commitment is unwavering, demonstrated every single day,” Ms. Leavitt continued.

“President Trump has bruises on his hand because he’s continuously working and shaking hands all day every day,” she added in a follow-up statement.

On social media, people speculated about possible reasons for the bruising.

On X, one user suggested that Mr Trump might be on blood thinners, while another remarked, “It’s true that elderly individuals tend to bruise more easily than younger ones. Trump is 78, so he could have gotten that injury in numerous ways.”

Another user appeared skeptical of the White House’s explanation.

“Why even lie? It’s obviously an IV bruise from blood testing or something. Is it surprising that Trump is elderly and has regular doctor visits?” they commented.

In a December interview with NBC News’ Meet the Press, Mr Trump stated that he would release his complete medical report, but he has not done so yet.
