Tucker Carlson Dissed Fox Nation in Private Call

A leaked video of Tucker Carlson has come out showing him ripping Fox Nation, the struggling streaming service recently established by his former company, condemning the operation for making him and his staff work “like animals.”

“Nobody watches Fox Nation because the site sucks,” Carlson said in the video, shared Monday by  Media Matters, a left-wing nonprofit.

Carlson, who was fired from Fox News a week ago, was expressing frustration with Fox’s push for Fox Nation content, which forced him to work extra for little added exposure.

The specific conversation surrounded Carlson wanting to dress in formal wear for an August 2022 interview with exiled influencer Andrew Tate, which would air in part on his former prime-time show and in full on the subscription-based Fox Nation streaming service.

“I don’t want to be a slave to Fox Nation, which I don’t think that people watch anyway,” Carlson said while on a phone on his Fox Nation set. “We’re gonna — because, you know, I’m like a representative of the American media now, speaking to an exile in Romania and welcoming him back into the brotherhood of journalists.”

The voice on the other end of the line said Tate “was panicking about” wearing a suit for the Carlson interview.

Carlson sat in silence for a few moments, shaking his head incredulously, before going off on the unprofessional Fox Nation podcast format in lieu of a presentation befitting his highly rated cable TV show.

“I mean, this is airing on the nighttime show, and I want it to look official,” Carlson responded. “I don’t want it to be like bro talk. And I, and I, you know what I mean?”

Carlson dismissed the suggestion of the man at the other end of the phone line that Carlson dress informally for the streaming service podcast setup.

“But nobody’s going to watch it on Fox Nation: Nobody watches Fox Nation because the site sucks,” Carlson responded. “So I’d really like to just put the — dump the whole thing on YouTube.”

The person to whom Carlson was speaking chimed in to urge Carlson to comply with the request to help his top-rated show feed viewers to Fox Nation.

Carlson condemned what he deemed a “betrayal” of his staff’s effort.

“I know, but we’re doing our part: We’re like working like animals to produce all this content, and the people in charge of it, whoever that guy’s, whatever his name is, like, they’re ignoring the fact that the site doesn’t work,” Carlson concluded. “And I think it’s like a betrayal of our efforts.

Carlson was reportedly ousted with two years at $20 million per year remaining on his contract.

Newsmax Vice President for International Development Ric Grenell acknowledged Saturday night on “The Count” that he has been urging Carlson to join Newsmax as ratings show Carlson’s viewers are garvitating to the growing network.

“I’ve made it clear to Tucker, he’s a friend of mine and I’ve made it clear: He would be fantastic at Newsmax,” Grenell said. “I hope he comes over here. I hope he considers it very seriously.”
