U.S. Healthcare Executive Fatally Shot Outside Manhattan Hotel | Global News
A senior executive at a prominent US healthcare firm has been killed in Manhattan.
Brian Thompson, age 50, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest on Wednesday morning outside the Hilton hotel in midtown Manhattan.
He held the position of chief executive of UnitedHealthcare’s insurance division.
UnitedHealth has not yet provided a response to requests for comment.
The company has canceled the remaining sessions of an investor conference that had just begun.
“We are currently managing a very serious medical incident involving one of our team members, and as a consequence, we must unfortunately conclude the event today,” said UnitedHealth’s chief executive Andrew Witty.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
