UFC Champion Jon Jones Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting and Threatening Anti-Doping Agent with Death, Reports US News

Jon Jones, the UFC heavyweight champion, has been arrested and summoned to court over allegations of assaulting and threatening to kill a drug-testing agent.

The incident took place when anti-doping officers visited Jones’ home in Albuquerque for a surprise drug test on 30 March. The officers, Crystal Martinez and Jerome Romero, were collecting urine on behalf of Drug Free Sport International, contracted by the UFC.

According to Martinez, Jones became angry during the process, took her phone, and made threatening remarks. However, Jones claims the meeting ended amicably. He posted a video showing a friendly exchange with the officers upon their departure.

Martinez reported that Jones was unhappy during the collection process and unable to provide a urine sample. She suggested a blood test, which further angered Jones. She also claimed that Jones assaulted her and recorded a video in which he made threatening remarks.

Despite Jones’ denial of the allegations, he has been issued a summons to appear in court for assault and interfering with communications. This incident comes after Jones served a suspension for doping in 2018.
