US authority claims Harry and Meghan’s charity ‘negligent’ due to records mishap, reports UK News

The Archewell Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has been deemed “delinquent” by California’s Registry of Charities and Fundraisers for not submitting annual records.

A notification was sent to the charity on May 3, stating that the foundation is listed as “delinquent” for not filing required annual reports or renewal fees.

The notification mentioned that an organization labeled as delinquent is prohibited from collecting or distributing charitable funds, and its registration could be suspended or revoked.

It was discovered that a physical check was sent by the Archewell Foundation but was not received, prompting a new check to be sent to resolve the issue.

The charity became aware of this situation only when the delinquency notice was made public.

With a new check now sent, the foundation anticipates the matter will be resolved, updating records within seven business days.

The letter from California’s Registry of Charities and Fundraisers cautioned that an organization listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in activities requiring registration, including soliciting or dispersing charitable funds.

The organization may also face penalties and potential suspension or revocation of its registration by the registry. Once the delinquent records are submitted, any late fees owed will be notified.
