US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz Set to Depart from Position | US News
Mike Waltz, the US national security adviser, is reportedly stepping down from his position.
His departure comes amid scrutiny after it was revealed that he established a group chat on the messaging app Signal, where Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and other US officials discussed potential strikes on Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis.
The situation became known when a US journalist was accidentally added to the group in March.
According to Reuters, citing an anonymous source, Mr. Waltz is set to depart the role after less than five months.
Additionally, his deputy, Alex Wong, is also leaving his position, as reported by sources familiar with the situation.
