US News: Latest Polls Following Another Assassination Attempt on Trump

Donald Trump has reportedly faced a second assassination attempt while playing golf in Florida.

The accused, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, is said to have run away from the scene but was later apprehended. With just seven weeks until election day, how will voters respond to this apparent second attempt on Mr. Trump’s life?

Niall Paterson is joined by Scarlett Maguire, director of JL Partners pollsters, to delve into what the polls indicate about the White House race, and how the recent attempted assassination of the former US president could impact it.

Additionally, Sir Keir Starmer is currently in Rome to meet with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni. The meeting will address issues like illegal migration, with the prime minister expressing interest in an offshore migration agreement that Italy has established with Albania. However, the home secretary has stated that it is not under consideration “at this time”.

Our political correspondent Darren McCaffrey is in Italy as well, discussing with Niall the lessons Sir Keir hopes to gain from Ms. Meloni’s immigration strategy, and the concerns some within his party have regarding strengthening their ties.
