US President Joe Biden experiences momentary pause and speech stumble during White House event
During an event commemorating Juneteenth, Joe Biden seemed to pause momentarily before stumbling on his words, while people around him cheered at a concert on the White House lawn. The 81-year-old president later gave a speech about Juneteenth, stumbling through a few words that were hard to understand on audio.
Similarly, 77-year-old former President Donald Trump experienced his own mishap at a campaign event when a teleprompter malfunction in Las Vegas led to a strange rant about his fear of sharks.
Trump, during his mishap, expressed concern about electric boats’ weight causing them to sink and being near sharks. However, he made it clear that he would prefer electrocution over encountering a shark.
Why does America mark Juneteenth?
Juneteenth, also known as “Juneteenth Independence Day”, “Freedom Day”, or “Emancipation Day”, is celebrated annually on 19 June. It commemorates 19 June 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, marking the end of slavery.
President Biden emphasized the importance of Black history, warning against efforts to restrict the voting rights of Black Americans.
