US Threatens International Rules-Based Order by Attempting to Compromise with Russia, Warns Ukraine’s Ambassador to the UK
The ambassador of Ukraine to the UK, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, has cautioned that the United States is “ultimately dismantling” the international rules-based system by attempting to find common ground with Russia.
Zaluzhnyi expressed that recent actions by Washington concerning Moscow could result in the disintegration of NATO , with Russian President Vladimir Putin potentially setting his sights on Europe as his next goal.
“The inability to recognize Russian actions as an act of aggression represents a significant challenge globally, particularly for Europe,” he stated during a conference at the Chatham House think tank.

“We are witnessing not only the alliance of evil with Russia attempting to reshape the world order, but also the US actively participating in its disintegration.”
Having assumed his role as Kyiv’s ambassador to London in 2024 after three years as the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, Mr. Zaluzhnyi also expressed concern that the White House has “cast doubt on the unity of the entire Western alliance,” implying that NATO could dissipate as a consequence.
This warning emerges as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy works to mend relations with US President Donald Trump after a dramatic disagreement between the two leaders last week in the Oval Office.

US halts intelligence sharing with Ukraine
Nonetheless, on the same day, the US president ordered an unexpected halt on military aid deliveries to Ukraine, and Washington has subsequently discontinued intelligence sharing with Kyiv as well as suspended cyber operations against Russia.
Mr. Zaluzhnyi remarked that the recent halt in cyber operations and the prior decision by the US to oppose a UN resolution condemning Russian aggression in Ukraine constitute “a significant challenge for the entire world”.
He added that negotiations between the US and Russia – “led by a war criminal” – indicate the White House is “taking steps toward the Kremlin in an effort to meet them halfway,” cautioning that “Europe could be the next target of Moscow”.
