Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed readiness to agree to a ceasefire agreement, as the US announces a resumption of intelligence sharing and military assistance to Ukraine.
In a collaborative statement made alongside Kyiv after discussions in Saudi Arabia, the US State Department confirmed the immediate lifting of the pause on intelligence sharing and military support.
This follows a lengthy nine-hour meeting held between US and Ukrainian officials in Jeddah on Tuesday.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated to reporters that “the ball is now in Russia’s court” after his meeting with the Ukrainian delegation.
National security advisor Mike Waltz remarked that it is “very clear” that Kyiv aligns with Donald Trump’s vision for peace, emphasizing that “they share his [Trump’s] determination to end the fighting”.
In a Telegram post, Mr. Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine “accepts” the US proposal for a comprehensive 30-day ceasefire with Russia.
Mr. Zelenskyy noted: “Today, in our conversation, the American side proposed taking immediate steps to establish a full ceasefire for 30 days, addressing not only rockets, drones, and bombs, but also in the Black Sea and along the entire front line. Ukraine accepts this proposal, regards it positively, and is prepared to take this step.”
