White House denies President Biden receiving treatment for Parkinson’s amid speculation over doctor’s visit, says US News
Reports of a specialist doctor visiting the White House multiple times in the past year have sparked concerns about President Joe Biden’s health. The White House has denied that he is being treated for Parkinson’s disease, following speculation caused by his lackluster performance in a debate with Donald Trump.
According to The New York Times, Dr. Kevin Cannard, a neurologist specializing in movement disorders and Parkinson’s, visited the White House eight times between last summer and this spring. NBC News also confirmed that a Parkinson’s expert from Walter Reed hospital visited at least eight times in an eight-month period. It was noted that one of the visits included a meeting with Mr. Biden’s personal physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre clarified on Monday that President Biden is not undergoing treatment for Parkinson’s. She did not confirm Dr. Cannard’s visits, citing privacy concerns. However, she mentioned that the president had seen a neurologist three times as part of his annual physical exams.
Andrew Bates, a White House spokesman, explained that specialists from Walter Reed often visit the White House to provide medical care to the military personnel stationed there.
