White House Exploring Trade Agreements with Over 15 Nations | US News
The White House is currently reviewing trade agreements proposed by over 15 countries, as stated by its press secretary.
During a press conference on Tuesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt mentioned that some agreements with various countries will be revealed “very soon”.
This announcement follows US Vice President JD Vance’s belief that the UK is poised to receive a “great agreement” due to the president’s fondness for the nation.
Last week, Donald Trump postponed the implementation of various tariffs globally for 90 days after global markets reacted negatively.
However, the trade conflict with China remains ongoing, with tariffs reaching as high as 145% on Chinese goods entering the US, and 125% on American goods going to China.
The UK government remains optimistic about securing a deal to exempt the UK from Mr. Trump’s tariffs. In an interview with UnHerd on Tuesday, Mr. Vance stated he was hopeful that both parties could reach a mutually beneficial agreement.

UK-US agreement ‘in the foothills’
“We are definitely working diligently with Keir Starmer’s government,” Mr. Vance remarked.
“The president has a strong affection for the United Kingdom. He greatly admired the Queen and holds the King in high regard. This relationship is crucial. Beyond that, he is a businessman with significant connections in [Britain]. However, the bond runs deeper than just that.
“There exists a genuine cultural connection. Fundamentally, America is an Anglo nation.
“I believe there is a good possibility that we will reach a substantial agreement that benefits both nations.”
Mr. Vance noted that the “reciprocal relationship” between the US and UK places Britain at a more favorable stance compared to other European nations in negotiating new trade pacts, adding: “While we appreciate the Germans, they heavily rely on exports to the United States but are quite stringent on many American businesses wanting to enter the German market.”

‘Referring to it as a trade deal may be misleading’
US correspondent Mark Stone reported that he has been informed the UK is “now in the deal space”, while another source indicated that the UK is “in the foothills” of an agreement.
However, Stone noted that labeling any agreement between the US and UK as a “trade deal” would be inaccurate, as it is more accurately described as an “economic deal” aimed at reducing tariffs.
Nonetheless, this represents significant progress for the UK, which has sought to engage the US in closer trade alignment since Brexit, according to Stone.
