Woman accused of participating in fraudulent scheme to sell Elvis Presley’s former home Graceland | US News

A woman has been accused of attempting to auction off Elvis Presley’s former home, Graceland, and defraud the singer’s family of millions of dollars.

Lisa Jeanine Findley, 53, was arrested and charged with mail fraud and aggravated identity theft, as stated in a criminal complaint.

If found guilty of the mail fraud charge, she could potentially face up to 20 years in prison.

Findley, a resident of Kimberling City, Missouri, allegedly orchestrated a scheme to steal the Presley family’s ownership interest in the music legend’s mansion in Memphis, Tennessee.

Findley allegedly made false claims that the superstar’s only daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, borrowed $3.8m (£2.9m) from a fake lender in 2018.

Naussany Investments and Private Lending, purportedly created by Findley, asserted that before her passing last year, Lisa Marie had used Graceland as collateral for the loan, which was never repaid.

Findley then reportedly threatened to auction off Graceland to the highest bidder unless the family paid a settlement of $2.85m (£2.2m), according to authorities.

Additionally, prosecutors claim that Findley posed as three different individuals supposedly associated with the phony lender.

Sky’s US partner network, NBC News, reported that Findley is also known as Lisa Holden and goes by various other aliases.

She allegedly forged loan documents and published a fraudulent foreclosure notice in a Memphis newspaper, announcing the auction of Graceland in May, according to prosecutors.

A judge halted the auction that month after the singer’s granddaughter, Riley Keough, filed a lawsuit to combat what she alleged was a deceitful scheme.

Ms. Keough, an actress, inherited the trust and ownership of the Memphis home following Ms. Presley’s death.

In the lawsuit, the notary whose name is listed on Naussany’s documents indicated she never met Ms. Presley nor notarized any documents for her.

Eric Shen, from the US Postal Inspection Service Criminal Investigations Group, alleged that Findley “exploited the very public and tragic events in the Presley family as an opportunity to take advantage of the name and financial status of the heirs to the Graceland estate”.

He also stated that the 53-year-old was “trying to appropriate what rightfully belongs to the Presley family for her own benefit”.

Graceland was converted into a museum and tourist attraction in 1982 as a memorial to Elvis, following the “King of Rock and Roll” passing away at the age of 42 in 1977.
