10 Ontario Farms Where You Can U-Pick Your Own Apples – How Do You Prefer Them?



Autumn is the perfect season to go apple picking in Ontario, and there are several U-Pick farms in the province that offer a seasonal adventure for the whole family to enjoy. 

Here are 10 local U-pick farms that are ready to provide you with your daily apple fix.

Pingle’s Farm Market, Hampton

Known for the Harvest Festival, Pingle’s Farm Market hosts pick-your-own-apple events from September to October. In addition to apple picking, visitors can enjoy the giant corn maze, mini corn maze, Pingle’s playland, wagon rides, pumpkins, and sunflowers. 

The Apple Orchid, Hamilton

When you go apple picking at The Apple Orchid, you also have access to wagon rides, animal visits, sunflower fields, corn maze, hay barn, walking trails, and more. Guests can also pick pumpkins and sunflowers at the farm. 

Puddicombe Estate Farms, Hamilton

The family behind Puddicombe Estate Farms has been fruit farming since 1797. Visitors can pick their own fruit, including apples, which are available from September to October.  

Carl Laidlaw Orchids, Brampton

Fun awaits at Carl Laidlaw Orchids where visitors can enjoy various activities along with picking fresh apples. From wagon rides to a corn maze to a barn beam walk, pumpkin patch, playing in the grain table, meeting the farm animals, and taking a river walk, there is plenty to do at the orchids. 

Dixie Orchards, Inglewood

Apple picking at Dixie Orchards, northwest of Brampton, begins mid-August and continues throughout the fall. The farm also offers pumpkins and hazelnuts for visitors to collect. Tractor and wagon rides are available for visitors, along with other activities like a corn maze, straw jump, and interacting with the farm animals. 

Brooks Farms, Mount Albert

Every weekend in September and October at Brooks Farms, east of Newmarket, is a fall celebration. Visitors can participate in various activities such as bouncy ponies, horse swings, pirate ships, corn maze, rubber duck races, a play structure, wagon rides, jumping pillows, zip line, puppet shows, pig races, pumpkin canons, and more. Apple picking is also available every weekend. 

Algoma Orchards, Newcastle

With over 1,600 acres of apples, Algoma Orchards offers a variety of options for visitors. The orchards also feature a gourmet market with deli and baked goods, fresh produce, and more. Various types of apples are grown on the farm, and they are currently developing six new apple varieties. 

​Brantview Apples, St. George

Open daily during the harvest season, Brantview Apples near Brantford is open rain or shine. Weekend visitors can enjoy wagon rides, adding to the fun on the farm. There is a selection of 22 apple varieties for visitors to choose from. 

Downey’s Strawberry and Apple Farm, Caledon

At Downey’s Strawberry and Apple Farm, visitors can pick apples and strawberries. On weekends, guests can enjoy wagon rides (weather permitting) and try apple cider and the fall favorite, candied apples. 

Great Lakes Farms, Port Stanley

U-pick apples, peaches, and pumpkins are available at Great Lakes Farms. Guests can also enjoy the fun farm with playgrounds, ziplines, corn maze, pumpkin launcher, jumping pillow, pirate ship, pedal tractors, and a sandbox.
