14 Israeli Soldiers Wounded as Hezbollah Fires Missiles and Drones at Northern Israel
DUBAI—Lebanon’s Hezbollah stated on Wednesday that it initiated missiles and drones targeting a military facility in northern Israel in response to Israeli strikes that resulted in Hezbollah casualties, an event which the Israeli military reported left 14 soldiers injured.
The military disclosed that six of the soldiers were in critical condition. They confirmed that they retaliated by “striking the sources of fire” after identifying multiple anti-tank missile and drone launches from Lebanon towards the Bedouin village of Arab al-Aramshe.
According to Israeli Ynet news site, the soldiers were inside a community center in the village.
Previously, Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon led to the deaths of three individuals, including a Hezbollah field commander, as stated by Lebanese security sources.
Israeli forces and Hezbollah, acknowledged as a U.S.-designated terrorist organization, have been engaged in conflicts for over six months, coinciding with the Gaza war, marking the most severe hostilities since the major war they fought in 2006.
Later the same day, Israel’s air force confirmed that its fighter jets targeted Hezbollah infrastructure north of Baalbek in eastern Lebanon, extending beyond the usual southern border region where most of Israel’s strikes have been concentrated.
The ongoing conflict has raised concerns about the potential for further escalation. Following Iran’s retaliatory strike on Israel involving numerous explosive drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles launched on Saturday night, Israeli officials have pledged to retaliate.
As per a Reuters count, at least 370 Lebanese individuals, including over 240 Hezbollah fighters and 68 civilians, have lost their lives in the clashes. Eighteen Israelis, encompassing soldiers and civilians, have also been casualties.
