US Judge Denies Trump’s Request to Delay Evidence Release in Election Case
A Federal Judge has rejected a plea from former President Donald Trump to postpone the disclosure of additional evidence by prosecutors until after the presidential election. District of Columbia Judge Tanya Chutkan stated that delaying the release would be seen as a type of election interference. Federal prosecutor special counsel Jack Smith filed a revised four-count indictment against Trump on Aug. 27 for attempting to overturn the 2020 election results, following the dismissal of the previous case due to a Supreme Court ruling granting Trump immunity for actions taken while in office.
