Accidental Sale of Quebec Liquor Products Due to Programming Error
The Quebec provincial Crown corporation responsible for liquor sales is reporting that a computer glitch caused all its products to be temporarily listed at a 30% discount on its website.
Laurianne Tardif, a spokesperson for the Société des alcools du Québec, confirmed that the accidental sale took place between midnight and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
She stated that the SAQ was able to resolve the issue shortly after it was discovered.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the error, with Tardif clarifying that it was a programming mistake and not the result of an external virus or hack.
The SAQ did not disclose how many products were purchased during the eight-and-a-half hour period, or how many customers took advantage of the discounted prices.
