Agreement on Shared Priorities Reached Between BC NDP Government and Greens
British Columbia’s NDP government announces an agreement with the provincial Green Party to collaborate on shared priorities.
Although the two parties are distinct and may not always agree, they share many values, and the deal aims to enhance the stability of the New Democrats’ narrow majority government.
Following the October provincial election, the NDP secured a slim majority with 47 seats, while two Greens and the B.C. Conservatives claimed 44 seats.
Premier David Eby’s statement outlines that the NDP and Greens will focus on areas such as health care, affordable housing, creating livable communities, and fostering a strong, sustainable economy.
Eby emphasizes that this agreement will solidify the government’s stability, and he remains committed to collaborating with all legislators interested in serving the people.
B.C. Conservative Party Leader John Rustad has expressed his intention to challenge the NDP government if it continues with what he deems as “destructive policies.”
