Arson Attempt Goes Wrong as Suspect’s Pants Catch Fire: BC RCMP
Authorities in Metro Vancouver are on the lookout for a man whose pants caught fire in an alleged arson attempt gone awry.
The Richmond RCMP shared a photograph depicting two individuals, one on the ground wincing in pain as he grasps for his burning pants, while the other person appears to be trying to extinguish the flames.
Law enforcement responded to a business alarm on April 24 and discovered a broken window along with a small fire evidently set deliberately right in front of the establishment.
Surveillance footage later revealed two masked men approaching the business, with one of the suspects inadvertently setting his pants on fire during the incident.
Despite the suspects’ attempts to douse the flames, the individual’s pants continued to burn, and the person on the ground lost their mask in the commotion.
The RCMP believe that the man on the ground likely sustained lower body injuries and describe him as a Caucasian male aged between 40 and 50, with a medium build and long, slicked-back, dirty blond hair.
The second individual is described as being in his late 20s to early 30s, with a medium or tanned complexion and an athletic build.
