Australian Energy Minister Encourages Continued Climate Action, Citing Success of Paris Agreement

Bowen emphasizes the need for nations to come together and expedite their efforts to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement.

Labor Energy Minister Chris Bowen has restated Australia’s dedication to the Paris Agreement on climate change, highlighting its significance for global climate action and economic transformation.

His remarks were made during his speech at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 29) in Baku on Nov. 19.

Bowen underscored the pivotal role of the agreement in unlocking new economic prospects.

“The Paris Agreement is effective,” Bowen declared, citing the U.N.’s recent Global Stocktake which indicated a notable shift in global efforts to combat climate change.

The data suggests that the world is now on course to limit temperature increases to between 2 and 3 degrees Celsius.

“However, there is more work yet to be done, and we need all nations to collaborate in ramping up efforts to achieve the Paris goals,” Bowen emphasized.
