Azerbaiyan təyyarəsi Qazaxıstanda qəzaya uğradı, 38 nəfər öldü, 29 nəfər sağ qalıb.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that it was too early to speculate on the causes of the crash.
A commercial airliner from Azerbaijan carrying 67 individuals crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan on Wednesday. Sadly, 38 people lost their lives in the accident, while 29 managed to survive, according to information provided by a Kazakh official.
During a meeting with Azerbaijani representatives, Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbaev revealed these statistics as per a report from the Russian news agency Interfax.
The Embraer 190 aircraft was traveling from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to Grozny in Russia’s North Caucasus region when it was redirected and tried to land in an emergency situation just 1.8 miles from Aktau, as reported by Azerbaijan Airlines.
In a press conference, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that it was too early to draw conclusions about the crash’s causes, attributing the diversion to the aircraft encountering adverse weather conditions.
He stated, “The information I have been given indicates that the flight diverted to Aktau due to deteriorating weather conditions along its path from Baku to Grozny, where it unfortunately crashed during the landing attempt.”
According to Russia’s civil aviation authority, Rosaviatsia, preliminary findings suggest that the pilots redirected to Aktau after a bird strike triggered an emergency onboard.
The passengers aboard the plane reportedly included 42 Azerbaijani citizens, 16 Russians, six Kazakhs, and three individuals from Kyrgyzstan. Initially, Azerbaijan’s prosecutor general’s office announced that 32 individuals survived the crash out of the total 67 onboard, but clarified that the number was subject to change.
