BC Border Agents Intercept More Than 60 Meth Shipments En Route to Australia in Half a Year
Border officials in British Columbia report over 60 seizures of methamphetamine heading to Australia from March to August this year.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) stated that these seizures prevented about 8 million individual doses of methamphetamine from entering Australia. The total seized included 397 kilograms of crystal meth and 1,278 liters of liquid methamphetamine disguised in juice bottles.
Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc emphasized the threat of international drug smuggling and commended the efforts of CBSA in disrupting criminal networks.
The Australian Federal Police highlighted the prevalence of methamphetamine in the Australian market due to high demand and relative prices, making it a target for transnational organized crime.
The majority of the drug seizures occurred in Metro Vancouver, with significant amounts intercepted in juice bottles and at Vancouver International Airport and Mail Centre.
Authorities did not specify any particular organized crime group related to the drug seizures.

Drugs Destined for Australia
In a recent case, a Canadian man, 59, flying from Vancouver was arrested in Brisbane on Sept. 15 for allegedly attempting to import 5 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in his luggage. The estimated value of the drugs was approximately CA$4.6 million.
Similarly, in other incidents, individuals were caught trying to smuggle methamphetamine into Australia, leading to their arrests and charges.
