BC Conservatives and NDP Unveil Strategies to Alleviate BC’s Housing Crisis
Both of the main candidates in British Columbia’s election campaign pushed their own plans to tackle parts of the housing crisis.
B.C. Conservative Leader John Rustad announced in Surrey that his government would eliminate multi-year permit delays and ensure that homes are constructed rapidly and at the necessary scale to address the housing crisis.
NDP Leader David Eby visited Cumberland on Vancouver Island to advocate for his party’s strategy to accelerate the construction of factory-built homes.
Eby emphasized that pre-built homes can reduce waste, lower emissions, and are now of exceptional quality. He compared the process to building with Lego blocks rather than traditional construction methods.
