BC Premier David Eby Urges Canadians to Consider Their Spending in the US
Premier David Eby suggests that British Columbians reconsider trips to the United States and purchases of American products amid the establishment of a task force to address U.S. President Donald Trump’s threatened tariffs.
He expresses concern that the proposed 25 percent tariffs on Canadian exports would be a deliberate economic attack on B.C. families, urging people to be mindful of supporting a country that seeks to harm them financially.
Eby advises British Columbians to check the labels of the products they purchase to ensure they are backing Canadian-made goods.
The task force, which includes representatives from the business, Indigenous, and labor communities, will collaborate to coordinate the provincial response to the tariff threat.
Vancouver International Airport President and CEO Tamara Vrooman, Teck President and CEO Jonathan Price, and Greater Vancouver Board of Trade President and CEO Bridgitte Anderson will co-chair the task force.
Eby confirms the B.C. government’s support for the federal government’s plan to impose retaliatory tariffs on Republican states if the U.S. tariffs are implemented.
