Beijing’s Interference and Repression of Falun Gong Intensify in Canada: A Pervasive and Aggressive Scenario

A comprehensive report has been released by the Falun Dafa Association of Canada (FDAC) detailing the Chinese regime’s 24-year foreign interference and repression of Falun Gong in Canada. The report highlights the escalation and tactics used to silence the group and stifle its human rights advocacy, as well as the negative impact these activities have on Canadians. The 129-page report documents instances of assault, intimidation, harassment, and social exclusion targeting Falun Gong practitioners, often linked to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate or the foreign interference arm of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The report emphasizes that the CCP’s interference extends to and adversely impacts all Canadians, including politicians and various aspects of civil, social, and political life. It also notes that Beijing’s foreign interference has become increasingly hidden and invisible, resulting in limited public awareness and a disproportionately inadequate response. The report raises concerns about the CCP’s infiltration into Canada’s political system and institutions, undermining the government’s ability to address and rectify interference. The report also highlights the erosion of Canadian values and governance caused by the CCP’s campaign to eradicate Falun Gong, which includes human rights violations such as forced organ harvesting. The CCP’s repression spans multiple sectors within Canadian society, with its influence over the government sector being particularly unprecedented. Tactics used by the CCP include sending defamatory letters, spreading disinformation, and organizing rallies through organizations associated with the United Front Work Department, a Chinese agency primarily engaged in foreign interference. The report highlights the growing reliance on front organizations and the use of hate propaganda to justify the CCP’s oppression of Falun Gong. It also raises concerns about the significant role played by Chinese-Canadian media and social media platforms in spreading CCP propaganda against Falun Gong.
