Bell Media Cut 98 Jobs, Especially in Service and Corporate Divisions
Bell Media is implementing a reduction of 98 jobs through layoffs and buyouts.
A company spokeswoman has clarified that most of the affected positions are in “service and corporate departments,” with assurance that no CTV journalists have been impacted.
Out of the total job cuts, 44 are union positions, and a significant number of employees in this category have been offered buyout packages.
This move comes approximately a year after BCE Inc., the parent company of Bell Media, carried out layoffs affecting 4,800 employees.
As part of the previous restructuring, BCE Inc. divested 45 of the 103 Bell radio stations and terminated several TV newscasts and programs, including the flagship investigative series “W5.” Around 10 percent of the job losses were within Bell Media.
However, Bell Media has reassured that this current round of layoffs will not lead to the cancellation of any news programs.
