British Columbia Provincial Election on Oct. 19 Kicks Off Advance Voting
Starting today, keen voters in British Columbia’s provincial election can cast their ballots at hundreds of advance voting locations.
Elections BC has set up 343 advance voting places for the two advance voting periods, which are from today until Oct. 13, and then on Oct. 15 and 16 (not all locations will be open every day).
Polls indicate a close race between David Eby’s NDP and John Rustad’s B.C. Conservatives, with advance voting playing an increasingly important role in past elections.
According to numbers from Elections BC, 35% of the ballots in the 2020 pandemic election were from advance voting, up from 30% in 2017 and 20% in 2013.
This year, paper ballots will be collected by electronic tabulators, with most expected to be officially counted on election day, Oct. 19.
Advance voting locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and voters can find the most convenient spot on their “where-to-vote” cards.
