Calgarians on Water Restriction Again Due to Discoveries of New Pipe Problems
After weeks of water conservation efforts due to a water main break, residents in Calgary and surrounding communities are facing the need to conserve water once again.
Mayor Jyoti Gondek has announced that extended tests on over 10 kilometers of pipe have identified 16 additional problem areas that require fixing.
The repair work on these spots is scheduled to commence on August 28, prompting Gondek to urge all residents in Calgary and surrounding areas to conserve water indoors starting from August 26. Additionally, a ban on outdoor watering will be reinstated.
In response to the water main rupture on June 5, Calgarians were initially asked to reduce toilet flushes, laundry loads, and dishwashing. While the voluntary indoor restrictions were lifted, the mandatory outdoor restrictions were gradually being decreased before the recent announcement by Mayor Gondek.
