Calgary Daycare E. Coli Outbreak Leads to Parent Launching Class-Action Lawsuit

A class-action lawsuit has been filed in the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta following a severe E. coli outbreak at multiple daycares in Calgary. The outbreak sent up to 50 children to the hospital and infected over 100 children. Calgary lawyer Maia Tomljanovic filed the lawsuit on September 8, alleging negligence in unsanitary food storage, preparation, and handling practices, resulting in harm to the students. Tomljanovic expects more parents to join the lawsuit as she has spoken to many parents with infected children. She believes a class-action lawsuit is the appropriate course of action due to the large number of individuals affected.
