Calgary Man Sentenced to Jail for Sharing ISIS Videos on TikTok
A man from Calgary has been sentenced to six years in prison for sharing Islamic State (ISIS) propaganda videos on social media.
He also acknowledged sharing a bomb-making video with another user online and having instructions for the same in a notebook found at his residence, the news release stated.
The court approved a joint proposal by the PPSC and Hussein’s lawyer for a six-year prison term.
Hussein will also be required to provide a DNA sample for law enforcement to include in its database, according to the release.
The other charges against Hussein have been dropped, according to PPSC.
George Dolhai, the director of PPSC, stated, “This sentence underscores the seriousness of using the internet to promote violence driven by ideology and society’s rejection of terrorism.”
Within two weeks of this sentencing, a 20-year-old Pakistani in Canada was apprehended for his involvement in planning an ISIS attack in New York.
Khan allegedly plotted to attack a Jewish center with the aim of killing as many Jews as he could in the name of ISIS, U.S. authorities reported.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) stated that the men were in the advanced stages of planning a severe, violent assault.
Ahmed Eldidi, 62, and Mostafa Eldidi, 26, face charges including participation in terrorist activities, facilitating terrorism, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, conspiracy to commit murder, and aggravated assault for Ahmed Elidid.
