Call for Submissions: Ottawa Invites Project Ideas for Youth-Centered Mental Health Fund
Health and Addictions Minister Ya’ara Saks is seeking proposals to assist young Canadians struggling with mental health issues.
The federal government is set to allocate $500 million for initiatives that aid young individuals who cannot afford private mental health services.
This funding is part of the five-year Youth Mental Health Fund unveiled in the recent federal budget to address the stress, anxiety, and depression faced by young people amidst high living costs and global instability.
Government officials state that the fund will also back culturally relevant Indigenous programs.
Health Canada reports that nearly two-thirds of mental health disorders emerge before individuals reach 25 years of age.
The department will be accepting project proposals until January 22.
