Canada Post Expects Delayed Packages to Arrive in Time for Christmas
Canada Post has completed processing its backlog of parcels from the recent month-long strike and anticipates delivering a substantial portion of them before Christmas.
As operations at the Crown corporation escalate, post offices are open for business, enabling drop-off of new commercial mail for processing, and scheduled parcel pickup services have resumed.
Although Canada Post is still addressing a backlog of international mail and parcels, it will commence accepting new international mail on Dec. 23.
To ensure timely delivery of items for Christmas, the postal service will be delivering over the weekend in specific cities.
However, Canadians should still anticipate delays in domestic packages into the new year.
Workers returned to work on Tuesday following an order from the labour board to end the strike, with no new agreement reached between the postal service and the union.
