Canada Upgrades Advisory for Israel to Highest Risk Level Once Again

Global Affairs Canada is once again advising Canadians to refrain from traveling to Israel, citing an unstable security situation caused by ongoing regional conflicts.

The advisory issued on Saturday warns that an increase in armed conflict in Israel could impact individuals’ ability to depart the country via commercial flights, emphasizing that they should not depend on the Canadian government for evacuation assistance.

The statement urges Canadian citizens and permanent residents, along with their spouses and dependent children in Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip, to ensure that their travel documents are up-to-date in case an evacuation becomes necessary.

On April 12th, Global Affairs Canada had heightened its advisory for Israel and the West Bank to the highest risk level but later downgraded it to recommend Canadians to “avoid all non-essential travel.”

Recent regional tensions have escalated following the assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran and top Hezbollah commander Fouad Shukur in Lebanon.

Global Affairs Canada continues to caution against all travel to the West Bank and the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
