Caution: New South Wales Man Faces Charges After Leaving Baby in Hot Car

The little boy was found still strapped into his car seat by a member of the public.

Parents are being reminded not to leave children unattended in cars, especially in hot weather, as much of NSW is experiencing a heatwave.

A man will be appearing in court next month after allegedly leaving a 13-month-old boy in a car on the Central Coast on March 10.

Emergency services were called to the car park of an aquatic center in Toukley, about 50km south of Newcastle, where a toddler was found alone in an unlocked car.

The little boy, still in his car seat, was discovered by a member of the public.

Police noted that while the front passenger window was slightly open, all doors were closed, the engine was off, and there was no air-conditioning running in the 28C heat.

The child was red and sweating but was assessed by paramedics and found to be uninjured.

A 40-year-old man returned to the car around 15 minutes later after being contacted by the police.

Police claim that the man left the child alone in the vehicle for 40 minutes while he was inside the swimming center.

He has received a notice to appear in court for leaving a child unsupervised in a motor vehicle, causing emotional distress.

He is scheduled to appear at Wyong Local Court on April 24.

Family and Community Services have also been informed of the incident.
