Chief Forecaster Predicts People Will Continue to Ignore Weather Warnings
However, critics of the net zero initiative argue that the ‘climate agenda’ now requires agencies to emphasize seemingly ‘extreme’ weather as political messaging.
According to a top forecaster, constant weather warnings could cause the public to ignore them.
Liz Bentley, the chief executive at the Royal Meteorological Society, expressed concern over the multiple weather warnings issued over the past week, including two named storms—Storm Jocelyn and Storm Isha—bringing travel disruption and multiple weather alerts.
She added that “if we constantly have yellow warnings out for something, people will start to ignore them.”
The Epoch Times has not been able to independently verify Ms. Bentley’s comments in The Telegraph.

Named Storms
The Met Office has issued amber and yellow weather warnings for wind and rain across the UK, as well as a yellow warning for ice in certain areas.
Gusts of 80mph and rain of 40-50mm are expected in some areas, with Storm Jocelyn being the tenth named storm since September 1, 2023 by the Met Office’s “storm naming group.”
The Met Office claims that climate change will cause a slight increase in the number and intensity of winter windstorms in the UK, and that is why storm naming was introduced in 2015.
However, critics of the net zero initiative argue that such measures are fearmongering and will undermine forecasters’ authority.
Ben Pile, a researcher, believes that recent advances in weather warnings may be politically driven and designed to make events seem more frightening in order to push the climate change agenda.
He argues that the use of scare tactics will desensitize the public to weather warnings, ultimately undermining the credibility of forecasters.
