Chile Shaken by 6.4 Magnitude Earthquake with No Damage Reported

Central Chile experienced a 6.4 magnitude earthquake on Friday, with no immediate reports of damage or tsunami threat.

The quake, reported by the United States Geological Survey at 7:38 p.m. local time, occurred at a depth of 110 kilometers and was centered 25 miles east-southeast of Molina.

The tremor was felt in central and northern Chile, including Santiago, but the Chilean National System for Disaster Prevention and Response reported no damages or emergencies.

The Chilean oceanographic service confirmed that the earthquake did not have the necessary conditions to cause a tsunami along the country’s coasts.

Due to its location in the Pacific Ring of Fire, Chile is known for experiencing high levels of seismic and volcanic activity.
