China increases tariffs on US imports to 125 percent
Starting from April 12, Beijing has declared that the regulations will be implemented.
On Friday, Beijing announced that it will raise tariffs on U.S. imports from 84 percent to 125 percent, in response to the U.S. decision to increase duties on Chinese goods to a total of 145 percent.
The new tariff rate will go into effect on Saturday, as confirmed by China’s Ministry of Finance in an official statement.
The White House verified on April 10 that U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods have been raised to 145 percent, including the previous 20 percent tariffs imposed related to fentanyl trafficking.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
