Chocolate recalled due to undisclosed allergen

Consumers have been advised not to consume two chocolate products and return them for a full refund.

A popular Australian chocolate brand has recalled two of its products over concerns about an undeclared allergen.

On Jan. 22, Koko Black announced a recall of its A Jar of Stars 54 percent Dark 140g and A Bon Bon of Stars 54 percent Dark 200g products, following the detection of milk, an ingredient not listed on the package.

Consumers with a milk allergy or intolerance have been advised not to eat the products as they may cause unwanted reactions.

The company also urged consumers who had bought the products to return them for a full refund.

All products with best-before dates up to and including July 31, 2024, were subject to the recall.

According to the company, these products have been sold online and at Koko Black outlets and independent stores across all jurisdictions except the Northern Territory.

Koko Black has also removed the two products from its website.

This is not the first time that Koko Black has recalled products due to undeclared ingredients.

In August 2023, the company recalled several types of black chocolate products after they were found to contain soy, which was not listed on the package.

The affected products were Koko Black Premium Pty Ltd’s Gold Block 40g, Goldie Pops Popcorn 150g and the Australian Native Collection—Macadamia and Spotted Gum honey crumble, caramelised white chocolate 80g.
