Creating Memories: Alberta Parents of 5 Homeschool and Homestead in New Brunswick
Every morning on the Prasad homestead begins with crowing roosters and the sound of mom of five Christina Prasad starting up the wood stove after her early workout. She prepares breakfast – wholewheat waffles – while the kids gather around the table.
This bustling scene signals the start of another school day on the farm.
Nine years ago, Christina and Nilesh Prasad decided to homeschool their children while living in Calgary. In 2021, they made another big decision to move to New Brunswick and start a homestead.
Transitioning from city life to a rural area near Fredericton, they are now realizing their dream of growing their own food and achieving self-sufficiency.
“We have raised chickens, processed meat, and experienced new foods like rabbit meat and fiddleheads,” Christina Prasad, 40, shared with The Epoch Times. “We have also ventured into growing tomatoes, canning, preserving, and dehydrating.”
Their homeschooling journey has fostered family bonding and instilled values in their children while stimulating their young minds.
