Discount Bus Service Expands Routes in Ontario to Enhance Intercity Travel Access
After three years of Greyhound ceasing bus service in Canada, FlixBus, a discount bus company, is expanding its routes in Ontario to include daily trips from Toronto to Sudbury with various stops along the way.
The new route connects Union Station in Toronto to the Ontario Northland Terminal in Sudbury. Buses will operate daily, excluding Tuesdays, and will make stops at Pearson International Airport, Parry Sound, Port Severn, Waubaushene, and Sudbury’s Four Corners, as per an April 4 press release.
A one-way ticket from Toronto to Sudbury is priced at $35.99, with additional options available for an extra fee. Seat selection costs $4.99, and for $26.99, passengers can have a seat next to them left vacant. The fare includes a carry-on bag and one checked bag, with extra luggage incurring additional charges. Additionally, a $3.99 service fee is added to the ticket price. Payment methods accepted include credit cards, cash, Google Pay, and Paypal.
Richard Szeri, senior manager of network planning for FlixBus, expressed the company’s aim for FlixBus to become synonymous with bus travel in Canada. He stated, “Customers in and around Sudbury can now enjoy convenient access to Toronto, including Pearson International, and transfers to Niagara Falls and the USA.”
In Ontario, FlixBus now serves over 20 destinations, including Ottawa, London, Niagara Falls, Hamilton, Kingston, Barrie, Kitchener, Mississauga, St. Catharines, and Windsor.
The company is also introducing new routes in Alberta, covering Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, and Red Deer, according to an April 8 post on Facebook.
