Doritos Terminates Transgender Influencer Amid Allegations of Inappropriate Comments About Children
Doritos Spain collaborated with a transgender influencer for a 50-second branded video on Instagram.
Doritos, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, has ended its partnership with a transgender activist shortly after the Spanish division teamed up with the individual. This decision came following the discovery of offensive and troubling comments allegedly made by the influencer online.
The video, titled “Crunch Talks,” for a Doritos Spain campaign, has been removed since then, as stated in multiple reports.
However, disturbing comments made by the influencer in 2015 resurfaced after the video was posted online. The comments included mockery of alleged victims of sexual abuse and suggestions of inappropriate behavior towards a minor, as reported by multiple sources.
The influencer also appeared to make insensitive comments towards sexual abuse survivors in another post.
Doritos Condemns Offensive Comments
A spokesperson from Doritos informed Rolling Stone that their Spanish division had shared the influencer’s video on Instagram before the inflammatory comments came to light.
The company quickly removed the post and terminated their relationship with the influencer, according to Doritos.
Additionally, a spokesperson for Doritos Spain informed Rolling Stone that they became aware of Samantha’s deleted Tweets from around 2015 after the video was released.
“We have ended the relationship and stopped all related campaign activity due to the comments,” the spokesperson said. “We strongly condemn words or actions that promote violence or sexism of any kind,” they added.
The Epoch Times has reached out to PepsiCo for further comments.
‘Abolishing the Traditional Family’
This move sparked a widespread boycott and led to a decline in Bud Light sales by 25 to 30 percent each month, according to industry data.
Elsewhere, the X account “End Wokeness” stated that the influencer “identifies as a non-binary trans girl” and has advocated for “annihilating, completely destroying, and abolishing the traditional family,” likely referring to past comments made during a Spanish TV interview.
According to Rolling Stone, the transgender influencer has offered an apology for the past comments made online.
“Some tweets that I posted in 2015 are resurfacing and honestly I don’t know what to say, I don’t remember having written such barbarities,” the influencer wrote, according to a Rolling Stone translation of the posts. “At that time I dedicated myself to saying nonsense, the heavier the better, because I thought that ‘dark humor’ was funny.”
Reports indicate that Mr. Ranedo gained fame on YouTube by sharing videos on fashion and beauty, later achieving widespread recognition with the viral success of his song, Maricón. He has since received multiple music awards, including Best Spanish Artist at the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards.
