Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives won a second majority government in the country’s most populous province on June 2.

The Ontario NDP is poised to form Official Opposition again, while the Liberals, which were in government before the 2018 provincial election, remain at third spot.

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath, who has led the party through four elections, had said before the election that she doesn’t commit to stay on as leader for a fifth election.

Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca lost his own riding of Vaughan−Woodbridge, but he has vowed to forge ahead regardless of the result there.

Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner was re−elected in Guelph.

Elections Ontario extended voting at some polling stations in the province by as much as two hours in some cases due to delays in start of voting or technical issues.

More than one million people voted in advance polls, with a sharp rise in mail-in ballots compared to the 2018 election.
