European Union Imposes Anti-Dumping Tariffs on Chinese Biodiesel After Probe
The European Union is set to implement provisional tariffs on biofuels from China due to unfair pricing in European markets.
The European Commission, the EU’s executive body, announced on July 19 in a pre-disclosure document that provisional anti-dumping duties ranging from 12.8 percent to 36.4 percent will be applied to Chinese biodiesel imports.
Specifically, two Chinese companies under the EcoCeres Group face a 12.8 percent duty, while three Jiaao Group firms expect a 36.4 percent tariff, as per the document’s details.
The pre-disclosure document mentioned that all exporting producers subject to individual calculations will receive information about their specific provisional anti-dumping duties, as per European anti-dumping regulations.
The Epoch Times has reached out to EcoCeres and Jiaao for comments regarding the duties imposed on them.
The tariffs, expected to take effect in mid-August, were prompted by an anti-dumping complaint filed by the European Biodiesel Board (EBB) with the European Commission in November 2023.

EBB stated in its complaint that a surge in Chinese biodiesel imports into the EU, facilitated by unfair trade practices, has caused harm to the EU biodiesel industry.
The association highlighted that Chinese biodiesel imports into the EU more than doubled from 628,000 U.S. tons in 2019 to 1.65 million U.S. tons in 2023, making China the top source of biodiesel imports into the EU.
