Farage Declares He Will Not Run in Election

Nigel Farage has decided not to run in the UK general election in order to focus on the upcoming US election, as Reform UK revealed its campaign plan in London.

The Honorary President of Reform UK, Nigel Farage, made it official on Wednesday that he will not be a candidate for the party in the general election, putting an end to months of speculation.

In a statement on social media, the former leader of the Brexit Party mentioned that he had carefully considered running in the upcoming general election but concluded that it was not the right time for him.

Although he plans to assist in the campaign, Farage stated that he will be dedicating a significant amount of his time to supporting the grassroots election campaign for former President Donald Trump, which ends on Nov. 5.

Despite acknowledging the importance of the British general election, Mr. Farage emphasized the global significance of the US political contest for peace and security.

He expressed his full support for the current leader of Reform, Richard Tice.

After Farage’s announcement, Tice unveiled the party’s election strategy.

The former businessman and MEP mentioned that Farage will play a significant role in the party’s election campaign.

Tice promptly accused Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of rushing into an early election, labeling him as “absolutely terrified” after “chickening out,” as the Conservative Party’s popularity declines in the polls.

The leader criticized the “experts” within the government, Treasury, Office for Budget Responsibility, and Bank of England for their “incompetence” that led to the UK’s “longest recession per person.”

Tice outlined the party’s plan to contest in 630 seats across England, Scotland, and Wales.

He also announced his personal candidacy in the Boston and Skegness constituency in Lincolnshire, where Conservative MP Matt Warman secured the majority in the 2019 general election.

Tice labeled the upcoming general election as the “immigration election,” highlighting the recent net figures of mass immigration.

Thursday’s immigration figures showed 685,000 new arrivals in the UK last year, equating to the population of Manchester. Tice asserted that this situation is unjust and places substantial strain on British healthcare, housing, wages, and infrastructure. He emphasized that the only way to address immigration smartly is to vote for change.

On Wednesday, Mr. Sunak announced that the country will hold elections on July 4, with him facing Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.

A Cabinet meeting was called for 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, raising speculation about a snap general election.

Speaking in the rain outside Number 10, Downing Street at 5:15 p.m., Mr. Sunak emphasized his aim to restore economic stability and stated that his policies are on track to achieve this goal.

He confirmed his discussion with King Charles to dissolve Parliament on May 30 and kick-start the election campaign, a move that many consider a gamble.

He declared that on July 5, either himself or Keir Starmer will become the prime minister, criticizing Starmer for lacking a plan and conviction.

Sir Keir also addressed the media, outlining Labour’s fully funded and costed plan for the country, emphasizing stability and a lighter political and economic impact on people’s lives.

Labour has not won an election since 2005 when Tony Blair triumphed over Conservative leader Michael Howard with a significant majority.
