Ferris Wheel Fire in Germany Leaves Over 23 Injured



According to reports from news agency dpa on Sunday, a total of 23 individuals were injured when two gondolas of a Ferris wheel caught on fire at a music festival near Leipzig in eastern Germany.

The fire initially broke out in one gondola before spreading to a second one on Saturday night, as confirmed by the police. Among the injured, four individuals sustained burn injuries and one suffered injuries from a fall. Additionally, various others, including first responders and at least four police officers, were slated for evaluation at the hospital due to potential smoke inhalation.

The incident occurred at the Highfield Festival at Stoermthaler Lake near Leipzig, with authorities currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

As of Sunday morning, specific details regarding the condition of those injured remain unknown as the exact number of casualties has yet to be determined, as per dpa. The operator of the Ferris Wheel mentioned to dpa that no passengers were aboard the gondola where the fire originated.
