Foreign Interference Inquiry Final Report to Be Released to the Public Next Tuesday

The federal inquiry into foreign interference is scheduled to release its final report to the public next Tuesday.

The recent public hearings conducted by the commission of inquiry focused on the capacity of agencies and officials to detect and thwart foreign meddling.

The inquiry also organized a series of policy roundtables to assist in formulating recommendations.

An interim report issued in May by commissioner Marie-Josée Hogue stated that Chinese interference did not impact the overall outcomes of the last two general elections.

The report mentioned that while meddling may have affected results in a few ridings, it couldn’t be confirmed.

Hogue’s final report, initially expected by the end of the previous year, was granted a one-month extension.
