Former World Junior Hockey Players’ Sex Assault Trial Jury Selection to Begin
Jury selection is set to commence today in the trial for five former members of Canada’s world junior hockey team who are facing charges of sexual assault.
The accused individuals, namely Dillon Dube, Carter Hart, Michael McLeod, Cal Foote, and Alex Formenton, were charged with sexual assault in an incident that reportedly occurred in London, Ont., in June 2018.
McLeod also faces an additional charge of being complicit in the sexual assault.
All five players are expected to enter a plea of not guilty.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred while many team members were in London to celebrate their gold-medal victory at the world junior tournament that year.
Due to a standard publication ban, the identity of the complainant cannot be disclosed.
