Four police officers tragically lose their lives in Mexico’s deadliest state
In northern Mexico, gunmen attacked a police patrol and killed four officers in a shooting that also left four people wounded, authorities revealed on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on Monday in the north-central state of Guanajuato, which holds the highest number of homicides in Mexico. The state has been a battleground for rival cartels, leading to high casualties among police officers.
State prosecutors reported that the attack happened in Uriangato, a town near Michoacan. Among the victims was a female officer.
Guanajuato, known for its industrial and agricultural activities, has been a hotspot for conflict between the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel.
