Global Contest for Innovative Ways to Repurpose the Old Montreal Olympic Stadium Roof
The organization managing Montreal’s Olympic Stadium is running an international competition to repurpose the building’s deteriorating roof.
The Olympic Park has initiated a competition on the best ways to recycle and reuse the materials and components to be removed this summer.
Residents of Quebec will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite from eight ideas selected by a panel of judges.
In February, the Quebec government unveiled a plan to replace the stadium’s roof at a cost of $870 million over four years.
The new roof will enable the venue to remain open year-round and increase the annual number of visitors to the historical site where the 1976 Summer Olympics took place.
Individuals worldwide have until the end of May to submit their ideas for consideration.
