Harris Encourages Netanyahu to Complete Gaza Cease-Fire Agreement Following White House Discussion

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have both emphasized the urgent need for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip on July 25. During a private meeting at the White House, Vice President Kamala Harris urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to finalize a deal to end the ongoing conflict in the region.

President Joe Biden and his administration have indicated progress in negotiations between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group towards reaching a resolution to the nearly year-long conflict and securing the release of remaining hostages taken by Hamas during attacks in southern Israel on Oct. 7. Both parties had committed to a cease-fire framework on July 12, as announced by the president.

Despite the talks, Mr. Netanyahu did not mention them during his recent address to the U.S. Congress on July 24. Following the address, both President Biden and Vice President Harris had separate discussions with Mr. Netanyahu at the White House where they reaffirmed the importance of peace talks.

While no official transcripts of the meetings were provided, Vice President Harris expressed her concerns about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the impact of the conflict on innocent civilians. She condemned the attacks by Hamas and stressed Israel’s right to defend itself.

The ongoing negotiations between Israel and Hamas have focused on the release of hostages, with Hamas seeking terms that would allow their continued existence as a terror group. In his address to Congress, Mr. Netanyahu reiterated his commitment to eliminating Hamas and ensuring the safe return of all hostages.

In response, the Biden administration has emphasized the importance of reaching a cease-fire deal to bring an end to the conflict. Vice President Harris urged the parties to finalize the agreement and work towards lasting peace in the region.

As of now, Mr. Netanyahu has not made any public statements following his meeting with Vice President Harris. The Epoch Times reached out to his office for comment but had not received a response at the time of publication.
